The Edinburgh Tour
The day starts with a tour of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of the Queen in Scotland. The palace was home to Mary Queen of Scots for six years and houses beautiful tapestries and paintings. Travel up the infamous Royal Mile through the Old Town and past The Scottish Parliament building to Edinburgh Castle which holds the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny.
If you have a thirst for the whisky and how it is made then we can take a short pleasant drive through the countryside to Glenkinchie Distillery, the home of 'The Edinburgh Malt', located in the rolling farmland of East Lothian and which houses an exhibition in the listed red brick buildings. If you wish we can organise a V.I.P. tour with a special tasting. If you are fascinated by the 'Da Vinci Code' or would like to visit the 15th century Rosslyn Chapel where it was filmed, the stone carvings are stunning masterpieces of the stonemasons craft and make the church very unique. From here we return to Edinburgh where you can sample the lively, bustling nightlife of the New Town with its many bars and restaurants.
Other options: Take a trip around Arthurs Seat, the extinct volcano overlooking Edinburgh with some spectacular views. Tour Princes Street, one of the major thoroughfares in central Edinburgh, Scotland, and its main shopping street or visit the Gardens on the south side of Princes Street. The Gardens contain the Ross Bandstand (an amphitheatre), a war memorial and a floral clock, together with other attractions. Further along is the Scott Monument, an intricate building dedicated to the Scotsman who wrote the Waverley Novels. Visit Ocean Terminal and view the Royal Yacht Brittania where presidents, kings and queens were entertained. It was, first and foremost, the home from home of the Royal family when entertaining abroad.
